Extra (supernumerary) Teeth

Normally dogs have 42 adult teeth and cats have 30. Occasionally, extra teeth erupt in places where they do not belong.

Treatment Concepts:

  • If an extra tooth creates crowding, extract the tooth.
  • If an extra tooth does not create crowding, leave it in place and periodically follow up to make sure no inflammation occurs.

Treatment: Extract the extra teeth.
